Mid-autumn Festival Celebration English Activities
On September 13, 2024, students enjoyed an immersive Mid-Autumn Festival celebration through a series of engaging, educational games and activities designed for each grade level.
For P1-2 students, the day featured a Mid-Autumn Festival Treasure Hunt, where they helped the Chan family locate missing festival items. This interactive game encouraged teamwork, listening skills, and reinforced vocabulary related to the festival, such as "mooncake" and "lantern."
P3-4 students took part in a Riddle Challenge, exploring festival traditions through problem-solving and vocabulary activities. After watching a short video introducing key Mid-Autumn Festival symbols, students worked in teams to solve riddles displayed around the hall. The activity strengthened their understanding of festival traditions while building vocabulary in a fun, cooperative setting.
Our P5-6 students dove into Creative Story Writing with the theme ‘Chang’e’s New Adventure’. In groups, they developed creative dialogues, imagining what might happen if the legendary figure Chang’e visited our school. This story writing challenge encouraged creative thinking, collaboration, and expressive language as students explored new ways to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The day’s activities fostered cultural appreciation and teamwork while expanding vocabulary through hands-on learning. The Mid-Autumn Festival was a memorable celebration, bringing tradition and creativity together for a meaningful learning experience.
