School history

In 1887, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui expanded its educational services to Kowloon and established the "To Kwa Wan Sheng Kung Hui School" on Chi Kiang Street in Hung Hom. It later moved to Kiang Hsi Street and gradually grew in size. This was the predecessor of the present St. Timothy's Primary School and also the first Sheng Kung Hui primary school in the Kowloon area.

In 1957, St. Timothy's Primary School officially relocated to its current address at 14 Hok Yuen Street, Hung Hom, which was one of the few primary schools in the area with an independent playground and teaching building. Even the then Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Alexander William George Herder Grantham, visited the school. In 1959, St. Timothy's Primary School was officially divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Over the years, the school at 14 Ho Yuen Street in Hung Hom has been fostering talents in society for 50 years. In response to the needs of teaching, the school embarked on a new building expansion project in 2003.

On August 16, 2004, the school's expansion project was officially completed and put into use in September 2004. In addition to 12 standard classrooms, the school now has two computer rooms, a music room, a visual arts room, a library, a student counseling room, an assembly hall, and a playground. All special rooms and classrooms in the school are equipped with air conditioning systems.

On the other hand, the school understands that a comfortable and ideal learning environment can effectively promote the quality of learning. Therefore, in 2003, the school successfully applied to the Hong Kong Education Bureau for a new school building (located at 19 Ho Yuen Street, Hung Hom, adjacent to the current address) to improve the current teaching environment and implement a one-school-two-campus operation mode. On 28th April, 2006, Ms. Ng Lai Ching, Manager of the School Construction Unit of the Education Bureau, Mr. Wong Wing Sun, Property Affairs Manager of the Architectural Services Department, and Mrs. Jannie Chau, Chairperson of the Anglican (Hong Kong) Primary Schools Council Limited, signed the handover procedure for the new school building at 19 Ho Yuen Street, Hung Hom. Mr. Tse, Secretary-General of the Anglican Province of Hong Kong, and Mr. Kwok Chi Kay, Supervisor of the school, Mr. Lee, the principal, the vice-chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, and school administrators attended the simple yet solemn signing ceremony. After the successful completion of the signing ceremony for the one-school-two-campus, it was officially implemented in 2007. From its establishment to the present, St. Timothy's Primary School has experienced numerous waves of educational reforms, but it has remained steadfast in its mission to spread the Christian spirit of love and actively promote educational work. It has received strong support from parents and earned recognition and praise from society, nurturing a tradition of excellence and a good school culture.
