Non-Chinese Speaking Students Support Summary


Objective 1: Enhance students' Chinese language proficiency through diverse support methods
1.1 Personalized support: Provide pull-out Chinese classes for lower primary students and pull-out Chinese writing classes for upper primary students, helping Non-Chinese Speaking students progressively master Chinese, thereby boosting their learning confidence and motivation.
1.2 Chinese consolidation classes: Chinese consolidation classes every Tuesday before regular lessons, employing a "step by step" approach to c students' consolidate Chinese foundations.
1.3 After-School tutorial classes: led by school or external Chinese teachers to alleviate homework pressure and reinforce what they have learnt.
1.4 Assistance for external courses: Assist students in enrolling in external support courses to expand learning resources.
1.5 Daily chat and follow-ups: chat with students everyday during recess to find out their difficulties in language learning and daily life, and provide immediate support.
1.6 Upper Primary Peer Mentoring Policy: where students with stronger Chinese abilities tutor those with weaker skills.
1.7 Acheivement review: and organize achievement review and recognition events to commend outstanding students and help them set personal goals.
1.8 Optimization of support and assessment: Explain policies to teachers, hold regular NCS learning and teaching team meetings, review and improve the effectiveness of current measures.


Objective 2: Cultivate Well-Rounded Development Skills
2.1 Encourage students to enthusiastically engage in various in-school extracurricular activities, such as skateboarding classes, scouting, SDG volunteer teams, English drama, and visual arts ambassadors to nurture their body, mind, and spirit, achieving a balanced and excellent growth trajectory.
2.2 Encourage students to participate in Chinese cultural events, such as speeches under the national flag, moral education sharing, TIMO’s Got Talent, calligraphy workshops, and Chinese writing competitions, to discover and meticulously nurture their potentials in different areas, igniting the inner light of cultural confidence.
2.3 Collaborate with non-profit organizations to host various types of activities, planning team collaboration and STEM exploration events, so students can learn in joy, hone their team spirit, innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills and unlock countless possibilities.

 

Objective 3: Promote School Integration and Cultural Identity
3.1 Enrol NCS students in various extracurricular activities alongside Chinese-speaking students so they can integrate naturally into school life, deepen their sense of belonging to the school and community, and in turn transform the school into a harmonious and inclusive environment.
3.2 Enrol them in experiential activities such as outdoor learning days, craft classes, and parent-child workshops. They will be able to immerse in the charm of Hong Kong and Chinese culture, gain self-confidence and cultural pride. The activities also promote cross-ethnic interactions and appreciation of diversity, thereby building an inclusive, multicultural, and sustainable school and community.

Student Award

Congratulations to these five students for participating in the 2025 Outstanding Non-Chinese Speaking Students Award Program! Through hard work and the discovery of their strengths, they shine like sparkling stars!

 

 

The NCS students performed quite well during the matches, and they even won some awards!

 

 

Diverse Students Activities

The Parent-Child Rainbow Calligraphy and Fan Painting Workshop was greatly appreciated by both students and parents! Everyone enjoyed the creative process, which strengthened parent-child bonds and fostered interaction between non-Chinese speaking and local students!

 

 

The IDEA Center held School Team Building Balloon Workshop for Primary 1 to Primary 3 NCS students and a STEM Workshop for Primary 4 to Primary 6 NCS students at school, where the students were highly enthusiastic and deeply engaged. The exciting and fun activities captivated them completely!

 

 

On 27th June, NCS students participated in an Outdoor Learning Day, visiting the Peak and Tai Kwun (the former Central Police Station). By riding the Peak Tram, they experienced the historical significance of one of Hong Kong’s earliest public transport systems, overlooked Victoria Harbour , and gained a deep understanding of Hong Kong’s colonial history, cultural preservation, and diverse integration, reaping valuable insights into local culture and history!

 

 

Chinese consolidation 
The teacher told an interesting picture book to the NCS students and they enjoyed a lot.

 

 

 

STEAM class
The NCS students had STEAM class on Friday. They learnt how to keep trying but never giving up and how to cooperate with each other.
